Lee Communities at Risk
Protecting Citizen Participation and Community Planning in Unincorporated Lee County
In August 2026, Lee County proposed sweeping changes to the Lee County Comprehensive Plan and the Land Development Code without public input and disregarding unique community characteristics. The Lee Communities Coalition is fighting back to protect our communities by protecting the Lee Plan. But time to act is short! Please use this website to learn about the issue and visit the “Take Action” page to see how you can get involved!
Community Plans guiding growth
community and civic groups working together to protect our plans
Have you heard? The Board of County Commissioners voted to pause changes to the Lee Comprehensive plan. Special thanks go to Commissioners Ruane and Mulicka who requested the pause. While this gives us time to further dissect the changes, it’s not time to let up the pressure.
We need to ask the county to put this on hold until the normal review scheduled for 2028! Read more here. And, if you’d like to see the full discussion, please watch the video on Lee County’s YouTube channel. This topic picks up at about minute 33:00.
